Find and read papers from Paperguide's 200M+ database without leaving your AI assistant.

Search Paperguide inside your AI assistant

Ask research questions in the AI assistant you already use, and Paperguide helps it find and retrieve relevant papers for you. You can review results, open paper details, and keep working in the same conversation without switching tabs or learning a new tool.

What you need

  • A Paperguide account on any plan, including Free
  • An AI assistant that supports MCP connections
  • AI credits in your Paperguide account

You don't need to install anything or manage API keys. Just connect your assistant and sign in to Paperguide. Claude and ChatGPT require a paid plan on their side for custom connectors.

What "search" and "fetch" mean

When you ask your AI assistant a research question, it does two things behind the scenes:

Search — finding papers for you

Your assistant looks through Paperguide's database of 200M+ papers to find ones that match your question. Think of it like asking a librarian to find papers on a topic.

Fetch — getting the full details

When a paper looks relevant, your assistant pulls its full details — abstract, authors, journal, DOI, and citation info — so you can review it without leaving the conversation. You can also ask your assistant to look up a specific paper directly by its DOI or PubMed ID, without needing to search first.

How credits work

Each question you ask typically costs around 15 credits, depending on how many papers your assistant opens for details.

ActionWhat it doesCredits
SearchFinds papers matching your question10
FetchRetrieves full details for one paper2

A typical exchange — one search plus two or three fetches — adds up to roughly 15 credits per question.

Failed calls are not charged. If a search returns no results or a paper can't be found, you don't lose any credits.
